
Brazos Midstream will build a second 300 MMcf/d cryogenic processing plant in the Midland Basin, pushing its total capacity toward 1.1 Bcf/d as Permian gas production keeps climbing.
MONTREAL (Oil Monster): Brazos Midstream has announced plans to build a new natural gas processing facility in Texas as production continues to increase across the Midland Basin.
The company will construct Cassidy II, a 300 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) cryogenic processing plant at its existing Cassidy complex in Glasscock County. The facility is expected to begin operations in summer 2027.
Once completed, Cassidy II will raise Brazos Midstream's total natural gas processing capacity in the Midland Basin to approximately 1.1 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d).
The expansion is backed by long-term acreage commitments covering about 575,000 acres from private and publicly traded producers. Brazos said system volumes have already surpassed 700 MMcf/d, supported in part by a new long-term agreement with a major oil and gas company.
The company expects rising production from deeper formations, including the Barnett, to drive additional natural gas volumes. These formations have higher gas-to-oil ratios, increasing the need for gathering and processing infrastructure.
Brazos is also advancing Cassidy I, another 300 MMcf/d cryogenic processing plant at the same complex. Mechanical completion is scheduled for November 2026, with the facility expected to enter service before the end of the year.
The two projects will significantly expand Brazos' ability to handle growing natural gas production in the Midland Basin.
