SEATTLE (Oil Monster): The North Dakota state regulators were briefed on two new proposed underground natural gas pipelines, to be constructed across the state for transportation of gas from oil fields in the west to industrial users in the eastern side of the state.
Intensity Infrastructure Partners and Rainbow Energy Center would construct one pipeline, and WBI Energy would create the other. These two pipelines, which would connect the Watford City and Fargo regions, would be roughly 350 miles long. It is anticipated that the pipeline segments will begin operations in 2029 and 2030. The pipelines' construction costs were not disclosed.
Justin Kringstad, Director of the North Dakota Pipeline Authority, commented on the development, stating that additional natural gas transit is needed in the state. He pointed out that the state has been generating more natural gas lately than oil, and that its oil wells are getting older.
Additionally, Governor Kelly Amstrong reaffirmed his support for the projects, pointing out that they will increase North Dakota's oil production, which will boost state revenue.
Natural gas production in North Dakota averages about 3.5 billion cubic feet per day.
